Found in my grandparent’s attic. One (right) has a little button to unlock the sheath, the other (left) is fancy and has the initials “H.S.” In the middle and the bottom of the blade says “N.S. Meyer INC NEW YORK”. My great grandfather was a soldier World War 2 so that could be a clue.

Anyone have any recommendations how to clean this? Not exactly sure what it is, but it is on the blade of a steel katana that was gifted by my grandfather.

2’ 6” long sword from great grandfather. Letters “NJ” are located where the sword makes a cross (mother from N.J.). Intricate design on blade, visible @ top and has faded completely about a qtr down. Two pieces were attached to sword when received. Any info I would really appreciate it, Thanks!!
