I have a white mother and black father. I never met my dad and was raised entirely by my mothers family who is all white. They tried to keep my hair straight and basically told me it doesn’t matter that I am half black. That “I’m just me.” Which is true, but I don’t feel like I fit in anywhere.

Hey my mixed folks! I am black and white. Dad is black. I constantly get told I am white/look white and have had some long time acquaintances who thought I was full white. I get jokes from both races on how white I am/look. It hurts so bad I feel I can't identify with either. What do you guys think?

What do you do when you find out your friend is a racist?
/r/mixedrace
Not exactly mixed race, but I have a feeling some people can relate to this.

I hate that some black folks act like if a mixed person identifies as mixed, then they’re rejecting their blackness or that they think they immune to racism. It’s infuriating!

Lol being part white and light-skinned is so much fun

“Do you speak Arabic?”, “Do you consider yourself white?”, “You look almost like one of the refugees!”, “Well, because you’re not... white, are you? You look more Latin!(^^)” The struggle is too real. What am I?

idk what to flair this, i know it's an unpopular opinion but I've never felt more hurt by a stranger online just because I'm trying to connect with my Korean side but all the Korean girls I see are pale pretty girls and i always feel ugly and dark. I don't go out of my way to darken, it just happens

Oh look it’s some of the racist adults from my childhood growing up in the Southern US and some people who get in my face whenever I’m in an interracial relationship. These are actually some of the tamer anti-mixed arguments I’ve had spewn at me. Has anyone else in here heard these arguments irl?

My grandpa's black, most of my family passes as black, my last name came from my ancestors slave owners, yet I'm constantly told I'm not allowed to "be black" because of how I look. So frustrating.

This just makes me so mad. How can someone be so ignorant as to post something like this. The “points” are incorrect as well! Even just a quick google search will show you that plenty of mixed breeding happens in nature, from coydogs to mules.

Mixed people aren't counted in studies again. See comments for link to whole study but in almost all counts they ignore even Asians or lumped them in with native american and mixed, which is no better as we all don't seem to matter, cause in 1500 people theyd easily find a good chunk of mixed people

So Im having a little debate with an “all lives matter” dude. I had to explain the one drop rule to him. But I’m more confused as to how “the law” would say I’m mixed?... And most people would say I’m Rican just going off of looks lmao.
